What were your favorite classes at Thayer?

Programming and chemistry. A lot of programming was working together in groups. It was a collaborative environment with a lot of my friends. And AP Chemistry was just a fun class with a great teacher.

What are your plans next year?

I’m going to Brown. I plan to study computer science on a pre-med track.

Did Thayer help shape these plans?

I’ve always wanted to be a doctor or a neurosurgeon since I was young, but it wasn’t until I took computer science classes at Thayer and had fun with our class that I became interested in computer science as a career.

What was your most challenging class?

AP Spanish with Senor Vega. It was a lot of work--especially to prepare for the oral presentations. As a teacher Senor Vega is hard, but he’s a really cool guy.

What was your favorite book that you read at Thayer?

I really liked Moby Dick in Mr. King’s literature class. I liked the theme of futility and the structure of the book.

If you could give advice to incoming freshmen, what would you tell them?

Try something that you would never expect yourself to do. If I didn’t run for class officer I would never have done any speech writing or public speaking like that. I never thought I was a public speaker, but I really enjoyed it.

What was your most memorable academic experience?

Probably creating Eureka (a magazine published by the Science Club). We all pitched stories and then edited it together. We made a high quality production that we were proud of.

What’s your favorite Thayer tradition?

Winter Wars. I feel like it’s a pretty unique event. The pride in our class is what inspired me to run for a class officer position, so I'm especially partial to the Winter Wars tradition.

What's an interesting fact about you that people would be surprised to hear?

I'm a black belt in Taekwondo.
