People say it a lot, but I cannot emphasize enough how amazing the community is at Thayer. I have always felt supported by my teachers and my peers, especially during difficult times. They say the people make the place and this could not be more true about Thayer.

I plan to study some combination of computer science, economics, and applied math.

PreCalc Honors with Mr. Forrest without a doubt. Between surprise quizzes and absolutely incomprehensible material, PcH was definitely the most challenging class I took while at Thayer. Although this class was demanding, it made me a better mathematician and learner. I also cannot thank Mr. Forrest enough for all of his help and support throughout this class and beyond; he has molded me into the person and student I am today.

I am open-water-scuba-certified!

Thayer has made me very successful at communicating my ideas, especially when it comes to public speaking. This has improved my overall confidence as well as my ability to present myself and speak with others in professional settings.

During my junior year on the Sunday evening before our AP Chem exam, Mr. Donovan hosted a review session in the Glounge for our class. He ordered us dinner and stayed with us for hours, guiding us through past FRQs and MCQs. He dedicated a major part of his weekend to us and our success on the exam — not because he had to but because he wanted to.

My mom. She’s the most resilient and hard-working person I know. My last seven years at Thayer wouldn’t have been possible without her continual support and sacrifice.

On the Tuesday of the seniors’ last week of classes, we threw the barbecue to end all barbecues in the Senior Square. We ordered an inflatable obstacle course and grilled burgers and hot dogs in the parking lot. Mr. Martin kept the juniors out of the CFA lot, and the Buildings & Grounds team helped us transport kiddie pools filled with water balloons to the Teardrop. We all wore white T-shirts and signed them for one another like we used to during field days in elementary school. It was really wholesome, and it felt like the perfect way to end my Thayer career.

While at Thayer, I’ve always been encouraged to go after my dreams. Anytime I’ve mentioned a goal or aspiration of mine to any of my classmates, teachers, or coaches, they’ve had nothing but words of support and encouragement. This has allowed me to push myself further and achieve more than I ever could have imagined.

Definitely Winter Wars. It’s the perfect balance between intense competition and lighthearted fun.
