Without a doubt, what makes Thayer unique is the community. The collaboration and support between both teachers and students is incredible. The teachers go the extra mile to ensure that they have meaningful relationships with their students and truly care about all their students. Everybody at Thayer works to push those around them to success while supporting them along the way.

My plan is to double major in political science and computer science at Boston College.

PreCalculus Advanced with Ms. Lombardi challenged me the most. In that class, I learned to think about math beyond just memorizing formulas and solving-steps, which is probably what helped me to succeed in AP Calculus the following year.

I dressed up as a police officer for 11-straight Halloweens when I was a kid.

Thayer has allowed me to branch out in so many areas, allowed me to excel in what I’m good at, challenged me in all arenas, and pushed me to want to do better. Thayer has also helped teach me the immense value of building strong relationships and simply giving your best effort to what you’re doing every day.

I came to Thayer in eighth grade and I was very behind in grammar — like, I barely knew what verbs and nouns were. In English class with Mr. Harrison, we were learning about tenses of verbs and different types of conjunctions and prepositions, so I was extremely lost. He took a lot of time to teach me what the rest of the class had already learned and helped me catch up.

At Thayer, Mr. Cedrone inspires me. He somehow blends “serious” teacher with “super-goofy” teacher and has this way of making boring math engaging. Also, he has an incredible knack for building bonds with his students and truly cares about them.

Outside of Thayer, my dad inspires me. He would, and does, do anything for my siblings and me. He can be super goofy and fun at times, but he’s also really serious when he needs to be and is very reliable. I have learned so much from him — both life lessons and practical skills.

I can’t pick just one; I have a three-way tie. One of my favorite moments at Thayer has to be playing Spikeball on the Teardrop with music in the background on a hot May day during a free period. The second is when a couple of friends and I played Wavelengths with Mr. Cedrone and Mr. Donovan after school for, like, two hours. The third is any of our many completely random conversations in Ms. Gately’s AP Government class. The conversations were very off-topic but always interesting and super funny.

My walkup song would probably be “Unstoppable” by Sia because I’m unstoppable.

Everyone has always been there for me, whether I need help on schoolwork, advice, someone to talk to, or literally anything else. That’s what I love about Thayer. No matter what I need, I have at least five people I can go to.

Hands down, my favorite Thayer tradition is Winter Wars. I mean, what’s not to like about it? And have you seen my outfits?
