The family aspect of Thayer makes it unique. The sense of community is so strong and I have several teachers with whom I’ve developed relationships outside of the classroom that make it easy to go to them for anything. Looking up in the bleachers during basketball games and seeing so many faculty and staff there supporting us was a great feeling.

I will attend Boston University but haven’t decided upon a major yet.

Thayer has prepared me for success by making me utilize my time management skills. Since I’m playing a sport in college, it helps to have already worked on that school-to-sport balance in high school.

Good Will Hunting

Mr. O (Upper School Math Faculty William “Billy” O’Dwyer) taught me math for three years and was available for extra help before every single test. If he knew I was struggling with a topic, he would even reach out to me first to see if I wanted to meet with him to make sure I wasn’t falling behind.

The person who inspires me the most is my mom. Knowing all the sacrifices she made to help my siblings and I have a better life motivates me to be successful so that one day I will be able to return the favor and take care of her.

By showing up. I’ve been blessed to meet the best group of friends at Thayer and could always count on them to be sitting in the front row of every single basketball game I had. Whether it was friends, teachers, or coaches, they were always there for me and never wavered in showing up and supporting me when it mattered most.

Winter Wars. This really brings your grade together, and the school spirit and passion grows each year. By the time senior year comes, the entire class rallies together and is willing to do anything to win.
