Thayer is unique because of its supportive community. Everyone here wants you to succeed, and it’s evident that the teachers genuinely care about all of their students. Additionally, everyone is encouraged to explore all of their interests, and Thayer makes it possible to be involved in varsity sports as well as theater and many other extracurriculars. 

Next year I’ll attend Middlebury College and plan to major in computer science. I’m also interested in Spanish and am considering minoring in that language. 

The class that challenged me the most would have to be PreCalc Honors with Mr. Forrest. I took the class last year during our modified COVID-19 schedule, which meant we covered a year’s worth of material in only a semester. Not only was the course academically challenging because of the workload, it was also mentally challenging because we never had a day off or time to slow down. However, by the end of the class I was definitely a better math student and very well prepared for AP BC Calculus. 

I absolutely love The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books.

Thayer has given me the opportunity to explore many of my interests, and that has helped me to realize what I want to focus on in the future. I have also learned how to manage my time and developed better study habits during my time at Thayer.

The Sound of Music is my favorite movie of all time. I watch it every Christmas with my dad, and I will never get tired of the great songs and beautiful Austrian landscapes.

College Counseling was very helpful, especially in the beginning, because my counselor recommended a list of schools that he thought I would like. This was a great jumping-off point to conduct my own research on schools and narrow down what I liked.

I am most inspired by my parents. They have given me many opportunities and always support me with what I want to pursue. I admire and am inspired by their hard work and dedication to our family.

Mr. Cedrone has always gone above and beyond to help me. This fall we sat down together and went through Middlebury’s computer science department website, and he helped me put a list together of questions to ask the department head. A few weeks later when I shared with him that I was interested in cybersecurity, he put me in touch with an alum who had worked in the field, and the three of us met at Thayer so that I could ask any questions I had. Without the help and support of Mr. Cedrone, I would have been much more lost trying to research computer science and cybersecurity on my own.

My favorite Thayer memory is when the girls varsity track & field team won the DI New England Championships. It was our first time at a DI meet, and it was so amazing to see the team come together and have all of our hard work pay off.
