One of my favorite things about Thayer is the fall musical. We’ve had almost a quarter of the student body involved in some years. These students can engage in the musical despite demanding sports practices because of the way Thayer schedules its activities. It gives everyone the opportunity to do sports, theater, and clubs with minimal conflict.

I’ll attend Wellesley College and plan to major in English and Political Science.

My most challenging class was AP AB Calculus with Mr. Cedrone! I’m a humanities person, but Mr. Cedrone made that class so engaging that I couldn’t help but fall in love with the subject matter. Before I’d taken that class, I’d planned on taking an easy math class in college to fulfill my requirement; now, I’m strongly considering Calculus 2. 

I am absolutely terrified of golf clubs. I got hit in the head with one when I was seven, and I’ve been paranoid ever since.

Thayer has taught me how to manage my time well enough to accommodate everything I want to do. I’m no longer so overwhelmed by a busy schedule as I used to be. The multitude of offerings at Thayer in which I wanted to partake taught me that. 

So many people inspire me. Right now, I’m on a bit of an Emily St. John Mandel kick, though, so I’ll say her. I’m obsessed with her writing; she is so talented, and I would love to have a conversation with her about the writing process.

Again, I have to say Mr. Cedrone. He offered so much extra help, holding Zoom sessions late in the evening when he could have been resting. 

Ms. Woods helped me to narrow my colleges down and make practical decisions that I had trouble making for myself. I wanted to apply to a great number of schools, but she helped me whittle it down to a (somewhat) manageable list.

My favorite Cahall meal is probably the BBQ jackfruit!

I really understand my social needs much more than I did before the pandemic, when I viewed myself as independent and somewhat insular. I need connection and contact, and it was hard trying to find that while maintaining safety. I felt pretty lonely sometimes. But I’m emerging with a much better understanding of how much connection and socialization I need to function.

Just before the pandemic lockdown, the theater department put on Chicago. It was my first time cast in a principal role, and I had a scene in which I descended from the sky in a hoop wrapped in flowers and Christmas lights. I will never forget how magical that felt.
