Thayer is unique because of the way that the teachers here care about their students. Every teacher that I have had at Thayer has gone out of their way to help their students succeed. This past fall, I was struggling with one of the programs we were assigned in Data Structures, and Mr. Cedrone would meet with me every day to make sure that I was understanding the assignment and making progress. Thanks to his support and help, I earned an A+ on that assignment. I’m extremely grateful for the support that the Thayer community has provided me over the past seven years. 

I will attend Columbia University. I plan to major in Financial Economics and will also run for both the cross country and track & field teams. 

Mr. Cedrone’s AP Computer Science challenged me the most during my time at Thayer. However, despite the course’s challenges, Mr. Cedrone worked with me to ensure that I had a strong understanding of the material.

I absolutely love country music.

Thayer has taught me how to manage my time and my priorities extremely well. Thayer has also provided me with the chance to pursue my interests at a high level. I believe that all of my experiences at Thayer have prepared me well for my next step in life. 

Katherine Stanwood, a member of the Thayer Class of 2018 and my former cross country and track & field captain, has been a big inspiration since the eighth grade. Katherine is one of the hardest working people I have ever met, and she has shown me that with hard work and time management, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. Katherine took me under her wing and has been a great mentor to and inspiration for me through the years. Katherine is now a part of the BC cross country and track teams. She remains a great friend and an inspiration to me. I am very grateful for our friendship. 

I honestly have countless examples of Mr. Cedrone going the extra mile for me at this point. I have never seen a teacher care about their students as much as Mr. Cedrone does. He has spent hours working with me in extra help, ensuring that I succeed. He has always been there for me if I have needed advice on anything, or even if I just needed someone to talk to. Mr. Cedrone truly embodies the Thayer spirit. 

My college counselor, Ms. Brennan Hall, was actually one of the first people I met at Thayer as she was my sixth grade cross country coach, and she has remained a major part of my Thayer experience. She was an integral part of my college process and truly went the extra mile to help me end up at my dream school. I am beyond thankful for all of her help over the years, but I’m especially thankful for all of the time she devoted to helping me this past fall.  

The chicken Caesar wraps this year have been a nice lunch.  

While this past year was not the senior year that I had in mind, it has shown me that I’m even stronger than I thought. It has also really taught me to appreciate the small things in life and how to roll with the punches. I’m very grateful for the support that the Thayer community has provided during this difficult time. 

My favorite memory at Thayer would have to be when our team won the NEPSTA DII Track & Field Championship meet my sophomore year. The boys team also won the meet, so it was really exciting to all be celebrating together. 

There’s a saying about our math and science building, Glover, that I believe describes the entire Thayer community perfectly. The saying is: “You can’t take the LOVE out of Glover.” I have found not just Glover (although Glover is definitely my favorite building on campus) but all of Thayer to be a place filled with love and support. The Thayer community is one of a kind, and I am extremely grateful to have been a part of it.
