COVID-19 Project RISE Update
We are pleased to announce the Project RISE on ThayerConnect online summer program for the 2020 summer session. For nearly 30 years, Project RISE has offered summer enrichment, and although the current COVID-19 pandemic prevents us from being on campus at Thayer Academy, the Project RISE program continues, this year online via the Academy’s virtual learning platform, ThayerConnect.
Similar to years past, this program offers academic enrichment, arts instruction, and character development programming; however, this summer it will be through a virtual model. Our online program will begin July 6 and last through Aug. 6.
We will offer both a lower and an upper program. The lower program will serve students entering 3rd grade through 5th grade. The upper program will serve students entering 6th grade through 11th grade. Classes will take place Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Each day, students will engage with teachers using the video conferencing programs Zoom and Google Classroom to support our academic instruction.
We understand this school year has brought a variety of difficulties and acknowledge that many students may have experienced gaps in their educational experiences this past spring. As we have done in the past, Project RISE teachers eagerly await the opportunity to not only fill these academic gaps but also to inspire educational discoveries through creative instruction and activities.
Tuition cost for Project RISE on ThayerConnect will be $800 for the full program. Limited financial aid is available. If you are interested in financial aid, please complete the application and provide supporting documents to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. For families in need of assistance regarding technology, please reach out to me at email@example.com, and I will help you to navigate the process of obtaining adequate technology (including computers and software programs) for your child to participate. Families who have already registered for Project RISE Summer 2020 will receive further communication to confirm their plans under the new virtual model of the program.
These unprecedented times have required Project RISE to reinvent how it operates as a program, but this current reality has not changed our mission of empowering and inspiring our students to educational success. These times have also called for greater support for our students of color and underserved communities. Project RISE is prepared to meet that challenge just as we have done for nearly 30 years.
If you are interested in having your child attend the Project RISE on ThayerConnect Summer 2020 virtual program, please complete an application by clicking this link. To help with our planning, we ask that you register your child by June 19. Applications will be accepted after June 19 for those needing more time to decide.
