Student Cell Phone Policy & Guidelines
Our goal is to allow students to be fully engaged in their learning and community-building during the school day.
Policy
Cell phones are not to be used during school. All other wearable technology such as gizmos and Apple watches should be set to airplane/school mode during the school day. If we find this is too distracting, the technology will also be added to the YONDR Pouch.
Every student will be assigned a personal Yondr Pouch. While the Yondr Pouch is considered school property, it is each student’s responsibility to bring their pouch with them to school every day and keep it in good working condition.
Daily Process
As students arrive to school, they will:
- Turn their phone off or put it in airplane/school mode as they enter the building.
- Place their phone inside their pouch and lock the pouch closed in front of the faculty member in the Forum*.
- Store their pouch in their backpack for the day.
At the end of the day (3:45 p.m.), students will open their pouch at the unlocking station outside on the turf fields* or in the Middle School office*, remove their phone, and put their pouch in their backpack. Students must bring their pouch back to school with them each day.
*Students arriving late or leaving early will pouch/unpouch their phones in the Middle School office.
Policy Violations: Consequences
If a student damages their pouch or is caught using their phone during the school day, the phone will be taken and stored in Middle School office for the day and can be picked up at the end of the day.
If at any time the device is out of the pouch, the pouch is lost, or the pouch is damaged, the following consequences will apply:
Damage of Pouch or Violation of Phone Policy
