Kristen Mashikian '17 to Play in All-State Music Festival
Kristen Mashikian '17 was chosen to play the flute in this week's All State Music Festival-- a showcase for the best high school musicians in the state. To qualify for the festival Kristen had to audition twice, once for the District Music Festival and again for the All State Festival.

The Festival will take place in Boston on March 9 -11. The All State performing groups, Chorus, Orchestra, Jazz Band and Kristen's group, Concert Band, will rehearse for two and a half days culminating with a concert at Boston Symphony Hall.

At Thayer, Kristen has been a 4-year member of Jeff Browne's Instrumental Ensemble, as well as a member of his Jazz Combo. Outside of Thayer, Kristen studies flute privately at New England Conservatory and plays in the Mass. Youth Wind Ensemble (MYWE) which is also an elite performing group with acceptance by audition. Kristen also travels to Italy in the summer to participate and perform in an intensive 2-week music program.
