The 35th annual Marilyn Legg Holiday Gift Drive is underway
The 35th annual Marylin Legg P ‘88 Holiday Gift Drive is underway. Supporting the efforts of three social service organizations, this year's goal is to make the holidays a little brighter for over 700 children in the region.
Representatives from Head Start, the South Boston Neighborhood House, and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) visited Thayer Monday to share information about the needs of their organizations with students. Head Start, which distributed Thanksgiving food and supplies to 100 families last week (thanks in part to donations from Thayer), promotes school readiness in early childhood by providing education, health, and social services to families. The South Boston Neighborhood House, which also cares for low-income families in the region, distributed almost 1,000 turkeys at Thanksgiving and hopes to collect Christmas gifts for 400 families this year. Serving over 9,000 foster children in the state, DCF is collecting gift cards that will enable parents to purchase personalized gifts for their foster children.
Thayer’s team of holiday elves are collecting gifts and gift cards for donation now through Monday, Dec. 12. Questions? Reach out to Erica Archabal and Skip Schneider.
