Thayer students shine in ‘The Prom’
The cast of The Prom - Upper School musical - November 2023

The Prom, Thayer Academy’s Upper School fall musical, delighted audiences with its message of love and acceptance and its terrific performances from start to finish.

Dozens of Thayer students took part in the production both on stage and off. The musical comedy (Music by Matthew Sklar; Lyrics by Chad Beguelin; Book by Bob Martin & Chad Beguelin) tells the story of a lesbian student banned from bringing her girlfriend to the high school prom in a conservative town in Indiana. Four Broadway stars travel to the town in hopes of helping the girl while garnering some much-needed publicity for themselves.

Upper School Theater Director Kelly Hines P ‘18, ‘19 served as director/producer, Upper School & Middle Arts Performing Arts Faculty Dan Alosa was the musical director, and Upper School Performing Arts Faculty John Crampton choreographed the production. Julia Fiorello ‘24 and Paige Johnson ‘26 were the student directors, Noah Gibson ‘25 was the stage manager, and Clare LaMattina ‘24 served as the student choreographer.

Performances took place in the CFA’s Hale Theater.
