Thayer lacrosse teams play home games under the lights

Thayer Academy’s lacrosse program saw one varsity win, one varsity loss, and an incredible amount of fan support April 26 as both teams played under the Friday night lights of Kendall Field.

Playing first, the boys varsity team lost 17- 4 to Noble & Greenough School. Nate Austin-Johnstone ‘24 led the scoring for Thayer with two goals while teammates Tyler Chouinard ‘25 and Teddy Lally ‘25 each added a goal.

The girls squad ended the evening by earning an 11- 6 victory against Milton Academy. The Tigers started the game with a lot of energy and momentum thanks to the crowd. Hattie DiBattista '26 led the team's scoring with three goals; the rest of the scoring was shared by Elsa Landy '25, Tess Van Ogtrop '26, Sophie Shone '27, Clare Carlin '26, Celia Benson '24, Joey Brown '24, and Coco Hauck '24. Sophie Casagrande '25 shut it down in goal.

Fans lined the fences for both games, and student support was evident. Sponsored by both the Athletics Department and TAPA’s Parent Athletic Council (PAC), the spring event was similar in spirit to a night football game held last fall.

The lacrosse night games, made possible by portable lights ringing the field, provided a festive atmosphere made even more fun by food trucks, a concessions stand, a spirit table, and a table filled with Thayer merchandise.

The Middle School also played some early afternoon home games as part of the day’s fun, and Middle School presence was strong for both lacrosse games.

Visit the Athletics Schedule on Thayer’s website for all remaining home and away games for spring teams.
