Thayer Academy Cum Laude Society Welcomes 25 New Members

Thayer Academy officially inducted 25 members of the Class of 2026 into its chapter of the Cum Laude Society during an April 27 school assembly. This significant honor is restricted to no more than 20 percent of the senior class and recognizes outstanding academic achievement.

Each senior so honored received the official certificate and pin associated with membership in this national society, whose objective is to promote learning and scholarship in secondary schools.

On behalf of the entire Thayer Academy Cum Laude Committee, Director of College Counseling Cicily Shaw welcomed the 25 seniors into the prestigious society. She reminded both the inductees and her Hale Theater audience that, of all the end-of-year honors soon to be bestowed on Thayer’s senior class, induction into the Cum Laude Society is the only recognition based purely on academic excellence.

“These are the top students of the Class of 2026,” said Shaw.

Thayer’s Class of 2026 inductees are:

Dakota Adams, Cole Belcher, Caitlin Berardi, Max Black, Quinn Devin, Shaanveer Gupta, Tess Harper, Paige Johnson, Ceili Kornhaber, Justin Le, Julia Looker, Mikaela Mahoney, Alyssa McGuirl, Alaina Millian, Cassidy Mullin, Zach Sarmanian, Vidyuth Sathish, Jordan Schwartz, Luke Shahied, Caroline Snyder, Eliana Soares, Andrew St Pierre, Jenny Wong, Mason Wright, and Michael Wubeshet

The Cum Laude Society was founded in 1906 to recognize the scholastic achievement of seniors in secondary schools. The Thayer Academy chapter of the Cum Laude Society received its charter in 1930.

The Thayer Academy Cum Laude Committee includes: Upper School Math & Computer Science Department Head Kevin Cedrone P ‘22, ‘27; Upper School Science Faculty Dr. Paula Collins P ‘10, ‘21; Upper School Math Teacher Derek Keough ‘12; and Director of College Counseling Dr. Cicily Shaw.
