Student Art Showcase puts talent from all grades on display
The Koskores Gallery is home to numerous exhibitions throughout the school year, but the annual Student Art Showcase in the spring is always a highlight.
This year’s showcase ran from May 6 until May 24 and featured works from both the Middle School and Upper School. Select pieces featured painting and drawing, ceramics, printmaking, photography, and graphic design from all grade levels as well as artwork from students in the Upper School’s Honors Visual Arts course. Students, family, and friends enjoyed a gallery reception May 10. In addition, showcase organizers partnered with Middle School Arts Night and the second annual Thayer Academy Film Festival (TAFF) to make that Friday evening a true schoolwide celebration of the arts. Earlier that week, an opening for the showcase took place during school hours at the Upper School.
Located in the lower level of Thayer’s Southworth Library, the gallery honors Ted Koskores ‘70 P ‘10, ‘13, the Academy’s former head of school, and his wife Karen Koskores P ‘10, ‘13, who taught visual arts and served as the gallery’s director for many years.
Renovated in 2011, the gallery has been showcasing the work of students, faculty, staff, and professional artists for more than 40 years. Brynn Wartman P ‘30 currently serves as gallery director.
