Eighth Graders Enjoy Class Trip to Washington, D.C.

Thayer’s eighth grade class recently took a three-day, two-night trip to Washington, D.C., where the Class of 2030 enjoyed the sights and sounds of the nation’s capital.

Middle School Dean of Students John Reid called the trip, which ran from Nov. 5 to Nov. 7, a great success and pointed to several highlights: a visit to George Washington’s estate at Mount Vernon; the taking in of the popular whodunit Shear Madness at the Kennedy Center; and the laying of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

This is the second year of the eighth grade’s visit to Washington, D.C. The Middle School partnered with Grand Classroom, an educational student tour group, to develop a unique itinerary that incorporated Thayer’s curriculum with the city’s varied and vibrant offerings.
