Campus celebration lauds collegiate choices of student-athletes

Thayer Academy recognized almost two dozen senior student-athletes and their collegiate sport commitments at a festive get-together this spring. The event saw student-athletes surrounded by proud family members invited for the occasion and cheered on by classmates, teammates, school administrators, faculty, staff, and coaches. 

Head of School Chris Fortunato P ‘26, ‘28 and Athletic Director Bobbi Moran welcomed everyone before quickly putting the spotlight back on the student-athletes themselves. 

“We are so excited for you and so proud of you,” Fortunato told them. 

The following seniors and their collegiate choices were recognized at the celebration: 

  • Callie Ahern, who will compete in track & field at Sacred Heart University
  • Gibson Akoh, who will play football at Morgan State University 
  • Anna Dembowski, who will play lacrosse at Union College 
  • Connor Foley, who will play lacrosse at Brown University 
  • Axel Foss, who will play baseball at Worcester Polytechnic Institute 
  • Marguerite Greene, who will play field hockey at Wellesley College 
  • Sophia Hansen, who will compete in track & field at Trinity College 
  • Ryan Hawley, who will play baseball at Babson College 
  • Scott Lowe, who will play lacrosse at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 
  • Brody MacDonald, who will play lacrosse at Endicott College 
  • Cole Matlack, who will compete in crew for Brown University 
  • Conor Meehan, who will play baseball at Norwich University 
  • Brady Monturio, who will play lacrosse for Denison University 
  • Alena Mulhern, who will play softball for Wellesley College 
  • Shea O'Neill, who will play soccer and compete in track & field for Trinity College
  • Madison Richman, who will play ice hockey for Utica College 
  • Grady Russo, who will play football at Pitzer College 
  • Lila Shea, who will play ice hockey for the University of Maine 
  • Jaaden Simpkins, who will play football for Stonehill College
  • Jack Snyder, who will play lacrosse for Roanoke College 
  • Samuel Tavitian, who will play lacrosse for Massachusetts Maritime Academy
