Boston 25 highlights siblings on Thayer boys hockey

As the Thayer boys varsity hockey team gears up for its first NEPSAC tournament game in several years, a local Boston television station has put the spotlight on the team’s four — yes, four — sets of brothers.

On Tuesday, Boston 25’s Butch Stearns ran an “All in the Family” profile on the nine Thayer players who make up this particular group. They are: goaltender Quinn Devin ‘26, defenseman Declan Devin ‘25, defenseman Shane Devin ‘28, forward Tommy Lally ‘28, forward (and captain) Teddy Lally ‘25, forward Tommy Wilkinson ‘27, forward Charlie Wilkinson ‘25, forward (and captain) Mason Shea ‘25, and defenseman Cooper Shea ‘26.

“It’s instant chemistry,” head coach David Hymovitz ‘92 P ‘27 told Stearns regarding the bonds that these siblings bring with them into the Tiger locker room.

The boys squad will travel to Connecticut today (Wednesday, March 5) for a 4 p.m. matchup with perennial powerhouse Avon Old Farms.

Of course, the boys hockey team won’t be the only Thayer team carrying the school banner into NEPSAC competition. The girls varsity team, as the top seed, will host St. Paul’s today at Valicenti Rink at 4 p.m. The girls varsity basketball team will be on the road against Hotchkiss School beginning at 3:30 p.m. And the coed varsity swim team will head down to Chelsea Piers Athletic Club in Stamford, Connecticut, this weekend to participate in the NEPSAC Division II Championships.
