Upper School Performing Arts Course Elective

Students who sing or play an instrument and would like to participate in one of our performing groups should indicate their selection below.

All music and dance groups are scheduled during the school day (2 or 4 periods a week) and are open to all Upper School students (grades 9-12). Students can join more than one group after consultation with arts department head Jeff Browne P ‘04, ‘05.

  • Concert Choir: Students will be placed into small vocal ensemble groups for class/practice time and practice as a large group in preparation for concerts and events.
  • Instrumental Ensemble: Open to all who play any instrument (brass, woodwind, percussion, strings, piano).
  • Jazz Combos: There are eight different jazz combos. Scheduling is determined by experience, musical style, and interest. All groups perform a wide variety of music styles and all combos include vocalists. Students have input into the music studied and performed.
  • Dance/Movement: Learning traditional and modern styles.

If you have any questions, please contact Arts Department Head Jeff Browne P ‘04, ‘05 (jbrowne@thayer.org).
