About the Program:
Thayer Girls' Basketball is one of 13 teams in the Independent School League (ISL) and participates in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class A division for tournament play. Our comprehensive 25 game schedule is made up of ISL, Class A, and Class AA opponents. Thayer has earned a spot in the NEPSAC Class A Tournament in five of the last six seasons including being a Class A Tournament Finalist in 2022. The team also participates in tournaments around the holidays including the Nickerson Classic Super ‘A’ Girls Basketball Tournament. Head Coach Billy O'Dwyer '02 has been at the helm since 2008. He has prepared student-athletes to play at the next level at colleges like Babson College, Springfield College, Nichols College, and Salve Regina University. William O'Dwyer
CoachWilliam O'Dwyer '02 returned to Thayer in the fall of 2006 after majoring in Elementary Education and Mathematics/Computer Science at Boston College. He was hired to be one of the four core teachers in the sixth grade. William currently teaches four sections of Mathematics in the Upper School. He is also the Co-Dean of the freshman class and serves as an advisor for a group of ninth graders. In addition to teaching, William is the head coach of two sports: girls varsity basketball and JV baseball.
