About the Program:
Thayer Varsity Softball is one of 11 teams that compete in the Independent School League (ISL) and is part of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). Our comprehensive schedule starts in March and runs through May each spring, and our home games and practices take place on our main softball field on campus. Laura McDonough
CoachHead Coach Laura McDonough joined Thayer Athletics as the Head Coach of the Varsity Softball team in 2016. Coach McDonough attended Bentley University, where she majored in Information Design and Corporate Communication with a minor in Psychology, graduating Cum Laude. She was a two-time captain of the Women’s Softball Team and was an NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete. After two shoulder surgeries her sophomore season, she played a fifth year for the Bentley University Falcons and received her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Marketing. Prior to Bentley, while a student at Braintree High School, Coach McDonough captained the Varsity Soccer, Basketball, and Softball teams. She was a member of the 2006 MIAA Division I State Champion Soccer team, as well as the 2008 and 2009 MIAA Division I South Champion Softball teams. Laura currently works at Inspire Brands, a global multi-brand restaurant company supporting Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins, as a Senior Manager in the Operations Department. -
Mikayla Lambert
Assistant CoachCoach Lambert comes to Thayer as a Quincy, MA resident and graduated from Blackstone-Millville Regional High School in 2014. While in high school, Coach Lambert played for the Varsity Field Hockey, Basketball and Softball team. She was a member of the 2013 DVC Conference Championship team and was on the DVC All Star Team all four years for softball as well as Senior year for Field Hockey and Basketball. Coach Lambert went to Curry College where she majored in Communications with a focus in Public Relations as well as minored in English. She played all four years on the Curry College Softball Team and earned All-Conference Honors all four years. She earned All-New England Honors her freshman year and was once the ECAC Player of the Week. Coach Lambert currently works at Inspire Brands, which is a global multi-brand restaurant company supporting Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins as a Supervisor in the Operations Department. -
