Cross Country - US Girls

2018 Season Preview:

Cross Country is a sport where whatever you put into it is what you get out. Work hard and you will improve. You control your own development and no one can prevent you from reaching your full potential.

At Thayer, we work in a system where all members of the Girls’ XC team are treated equally, yet trained individually, and this has led to considerable success. The team bonds together and always works together, yet each individual is challenged at her own level.

We have found this to be a dependable formula for developing self-confidence, trust in each other, and teamwork. It provides the motivation for athletes to push themselves to levels they never believed possible.

It's impressive what athletes can accomplish when they know their teammates and coaches believe in them. In the last few years, we’ve had outstanding team and individual results in the ISL and New England meets, where Thayer has won numerous championships and individual awards.

This fall, the Girls’ XC team promises to have an exciting season. Eleven seniors graduated in June, including the top 3 runners, who were perennial All-League and All-Scholastic athletes – so the ISL will see a lot of new Thayer faces on the courses this year. We have a young team, but don't count them out, as there's a lot of new talent, and we have some strong returning varsity runners ready to take charge.

This will be a team to watch this year and over the next 4 years!

2017 Season Recap:

The Varsity led by senior Captains Katherine Stanwood, Cassie Kearney, and Annie Huycke, the girls XC team had an outstanding season. They finished with an 11-1 record in the regular season, took 2nd place at the ISL Championship Meet, and then won the New England Championship with one of the most dominant races in Thayer history. This was the 4th straight New England Championship for the team and a great way for these seniors to finish their Thayer career.
