Soccer - Varsity Boys

Overview

2018 Season Preview:

The 2018 Boys Soccer team will be looking to build on a quality ISL preseason camp that brought together 20 players at Williston Northampton for 5 days in late August! After 2 exhibition matches against BCD and Cushing Academy, the 2018 season will open on Sept 12 with a trip to Winchendon, with the home opener on Monday Sept 17 against New England powerhouse Worcester Academy.

This year’s team is extremely excited to get going and will be led by captains Owen Drometer '19, Eben Butler '19 and Tim Kemp '19, the only seniors on this years team. They will be heavily counted on for strong leadership of a young squad. The team will need to be well organized, technically solid and disciplined to be able to compete in all ISL league games, in one of the toughest and deepest leagues in New England!

Junior Bradford Campbell along with sophomores John Carbone, E.J. Foley, Hobey Galvin, who saw huge minutes as a freshman, Teagan Rich, Chris Pappas and Kevin Freeley will be looked to for valuable quality minutes throughout the season!

Adding a ton of quality to the team will be newcomers Brady Monturio ’23 and Aidan Doyle ’22, both who have spent the last 2 years playing in the US Soccer Development Academy League. Goalkeeping duties will be a wide open competition for the starting job.

It will take a complete team effort this season to be competitive in each and every game, a task the boys are certainly willing to accept and are definitely looking forward to!

Go Tigers!

2017 Season Recap:

The boys soccer season started with some great expectations but unfortunately was stung by the injury bug. To the boys credit they never quit in training or in games and never used injuries as an excuse, when it would have been easy for them to do so. I don’t believe the record is an indication of the competitiveness they displayed in each and every game. The highlight of the season, by far was the 1-1 tie at Nobles which would eventually end up keeping Nobles out New England Prep School Tournament!

I would like to thank the 8 seniors Declan Havlicek, Connor Rotondi, Sean Kennedy, Conor Sage, Wil Linell, Duke Lenaghan and our 2 Captains Eoin O’Sullivan and Patrick Shiel, for their dedication, hard work and leadership this season and over their 4 years at Thayer, you will be missed!
