Welcome Reagan Bednar as Assistant Director of Athletics, Sports Information

Thayer Academy Athletics is pleased to welcome Reagan Bednar as Assistant Director of Athletics, Sports Information, beginning September 1. In her new role, Bednar will lead strategic content for Thayer Athletics' website and social media platforms, bringing collegiate and professional communications experience to a department committed to telling the stories of its student-athletes, programs, and alumni.

Bednar joins Thayer after serving as Assistant Director of Strategic Communications and Content Development at the University of Maryland, where she led communications for men's lacrosse and wrestling, played a key role during the program's run to the national championship game, and contributed to major football publications used by outlets including ESPN, FOX, and the Associated Press. Prior to Maryland, she was Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Army West Point, where she served as the primary media liaison for women's basketball, men's rugby, gymnastics, and men's lacrosse; managed team social media and graphic content; and produced press releases, recaps, and media guides.

In December 2025, Bednar was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 30 Under 30 Class of 2025, an honor recognizing emerging athletics communications professionals for their achievements in strategic, creative, and digital communications. This past summer, she worked in the communications office for the New England Patriots, further broadening her experience across the collegiate and professional ranks.

Bednar is a graduate of the University of Lynchburg, where she competed as a member of the women's lacrosse team, and was a three-sport athlete in high school, competing in field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse.

"We are thrilled to have Reagan join our team," said Director of Athletics Bobbi Moran. "Storytelling is central to who we are and what it means to be part of the Thayer community; it is how we help our students feel known, connected, and prepared, and how we share that experience with the families and alumni who make up our community. Reagan will allow us to tell those stories more fully across our programs, our student-athletes, and our alumni, and to create content that supports our programs and helps welcome prospective families into the Thayer story. Athletics is the front porch of this institution. It is where we welcome people in and where we welcome people back. Reagan has great ideas, and we are excited to get started implementing them. It is always a great day to be a Tiger, and with Reagan on our team, we will be even better at welcoming in new members of our community and welcoming back the ones who came before them."

"I've spent my career in collegiate athletics, but I grew up on private school campuses, so this feels a bit like coming home," said Bednar. "My fiancé is a college baseball coach, and when we moved to the Northeast recently, it became clear that this region is home to some of the best private schools in the country. Thayer's investment in athletics stood out immediately. With so much change happening in college athletics right now, high school athletics has become one of the purest forms of the game, and that's exciting to be part of. I'm looking forward to building relationships with coaches and student-athletes, staying connected to the community, and even getting back on the lacrosse field as a coach."

Thayer Academy Athletics looks forward to Bednar's contributions in elevating the department's storytelling, digital presence, and communications strategy in the years ahead.
