Thayer Athletics Announces Promotion of Brad Peterson ’11 to Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Middle School Athletic Director

Thayer Academy is thrilled to announce the promotion of Brad Peterson ’11 from Associate Director of Athletics to Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Middle School Athletic Director, effective July 1, 2026. The promotion recognizes Brad’s tireless work ethic, deep institutional knowledge, and unwavering commitment to the Thayer Athletics community.

“Thayer Athletics has been a part of more than half my life now, and it’s been an honor to help build the program I grew up in,” says Peterson. “Our Middle School athletics program is such an important building block for the success of Thayer Athletics as a whole, and I’m excited to help strengthen that foundation. I have such fond memories of my own time as a Middle School student-athlete at Thayer, and I’m grateful to Chris, Bobbi, Galen, and John for the opportunity to now lead that experience for the next generation of athletes.”

Brad’s connection to Thayer runs deep; he is a 2011 graduate of the Academy, where he was a standout student-athlete, captaining both the boys varsity hockey team and the varsity baseball team. He was the 2011 recipient of the Thomas J. Berry III Award, which is presented to the graduating senior who has best expressed the spirit of camaraderie and fellowship through a demonstrated desire to assist classmates or teammates in improving themselves. Since graduating, he has remained deeply connected to Thayer Athletics, contributing both on the ice and behind the scenes. In addition to his administrative role, Brad serves as the assistant coach of the varsity girls’ hockey program and assists with the Middle School hockey program, where he works directly with student-athletes to build a competitive, supportive team environment.

Since stepping into the Associate Director role, Brad has been the steady hand behind nearly every facet of daily athletic operations for both the Upper and Middle School programs. His fingerprints are on the master athletics schedule, the weekly athletics grid, official rosters across every level, and the daily communication that keeps coaches, student-athletes, and families informed and connected.

Beyond scheduling, Brad has been a driving force behind the Thayer Athletics website and social media presence, ensuring team pages, season previews, recaps, and coaching bios stay current and reflect the pride of the program. He has overseen equipment and uniform operations for every Upper and Middle School team, maintained safety and organization across all athletic facilities, and partnered closely with the Building and Grounds Department to ensure fields and facilities are game-day ready week after week.

Brad has also played a key role in preserving and celebrating Thayer’s athletic history while managing decades of records, rosters, and awards dating back to the 1950s; coordinating senior college commitments and signing day celebrations; and serving as the liaison to the Hall of Fame Committee. On top of all this, Brad manages the Hudl platform and film operations, ensuring coaches and student-athletes have the tools they need to prepare and compete at the highest level.

In his new role as Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Middle School Athletic Director, Brad will continue to build on this foundation, with expanded leadership responsibilities and a dedicated focus on the Middle School athletic experience.

“I am thrilled to have Brad step into this new role as Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Middle School Athletic Director for Thayer,” said Athletic Director Bobbi Moran. “Since my arrival at TA in 2022, Brad has been an incredible resource for me, and his passion for Thayer Athletics can be felt in every element of his daily preparations. I am incredibly grateful to John Reid for his previous work in the Middle School and am thrilled to recognize Brad’s dedication to our program with this new position. I am eagerly anticipating the exciting initiatives Brad has planned for our Middle School interscholastic athletic programs and look forward to partnering with him in support of our coaches and teams.”

Please join us in congratulating Brad Peterson on this well-deserved promotion. His passion for Thayer Academy, as an alum, a coach, and a leader, continues to shape the athletic experience for students and families across the Thayer community.
