Application Checklist

1. Interview and Campus Tour

Visit Thayer for a campus tour and interview. Interviews are a required step in the application process.

  • Call the admissions office at 781.664.2221 to book your appointment.

2. Application

Our application form must be completed online. Once you have completed the inquiry form, you will receive a username and password to complete your application on the admissions portal.

Application Fees - To be submitted with your application:
  • For local applicants: A one-time fee of $50
  • For international applicants: A one-time fee of $100

3. Recommendation Letters and Forms

As part of the application, please include the following:

  1. An evaluation form completed by your math teacher
  2. An evaluation form completed by your English teacher
  3. A school evaluation from a current placement director, guidance counselor, or principal, including your most recent transcript with academic work and testing results
  4. Parent authorization to release current school records, completed by your parents and submitted to your current school (click here to download and print the form)
  5. Optional: A reference from an advisor or coach in one of your special interests: arts, athletics, or an extra-curricular activity

Recommendations are uploaded through the online application. If you are having trouble accessing the forms, please click on each link below to download, print, fill out and mail in to the Admissions office.

4. Admissions Testing

  • Candidates for grades 5-8 are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) - Thayer's school code: 220425
  • Candidates for grades 9-11 are required to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) - Thayer's school code: 7654

You can register for both the ISEE and SSAT on their respective websites. Several test dates and locations are available for both. For your convenience, we have arranged for Thayer’s campus to be a test center for many of these dates*. All test information and registration materials are available on the ISEE and SSAT websites.
