“Both my girls have become so independent and confident since they’ve been at Thayer. The middle school and high school years are generally tough ones for teenagers, but I’ve watched my girls grow each year, overcoming hurdles and getting stronger. Thayer is a very challenging academic environment, but Caitlin and Clare have always been supported by their teachers and classmates to help them succeed. Based upon my own observations and discussions with alumni, I’m confident that my girls will be prepared for both college and life beyond college.”

“Thayer’s rigorous curriculum, wide variety of activities, and focus on students meet the needs and desires of my very different children … The easy accessibility to all teachers and staff — for both students and parents — makes Thayer special. I appreciate the friendships that my children have developed over the years and Thayer’s strong sense of community.”
“Prior to Thayer, David had never played lacrosse. I was even skeptical at first about his interest and then later participation. I wholeheartedly take back my reservations! David is also very passionate about the work of OMEGA, an affinity group for students. OMEGA has increased David’s awareness regarding diversity and inclusion; we are truly grateful to know he has a safe learning space.”

“A school environment with an emphasis on building community is important to us. The focus on creating community combined with a well rounded approach to learning that allows my children to simultaneously pursue their interests is what drew us to Thayer Academy. My kids love that they can play field hockey and also be in the school musical or run cross country and participate in Mock Trial at the same time. The student advisor relationship has also been wonderful and that connection has been important to their success and development.”

There are so many opportunities for students to explore their interests and learn what they love academically, extracurricularly, athletically, and socially. They can try so many different possible sports and activities … The teachers make Thayer special, hands down. They are phenomenal, inspiring teachers who are devoted to their students and eager to both challenge and encourage them to do their best and pursue their passions. These teachers are my heroes.”
