Engagement and Belonging

The Asian Student Association invites all students and faculty to explore the richness of Asian cultures through food, festivals, and traditions. By engaging in fun and meaningful cultural experiences, we aim to foster appreciation, curiosity, and deeper understanding of the diverse cultures that make up the Asian diaspora.

Rejoice is a welcoming space where students who identify as Christian, as well as those curious to learn more, can connect and reflect on the role of faith in their lives. Together, we explore Christian beliefs, values, and history, and consider how these influence our school community and broader society.

Isokan is a community-centered space in which students with African American and Black identities build connections, celebrate culture, and explore shared and individual experiences. Rooted in support and solidarity, the group also welcomes dialogue with the wider Thayer community to deepen understanding and inclusivity.

The Jewish Student Affinity Group provides a welcoming environment for students who identify as Jewish and others interested in learning more. Through conversation and community, we explore Jewish identity, history, and cultural traditions, while also addressing how these intersect with life at Thayer and beyond.

This alliance group promotes a caring and inclusive space for open dialogue around mental health. Students gather to share experiences, raise awareness, and reduce stigma, building a community of support and understanding that reflects Thayer’s commitment to well-being for all.

Mi Gente celebrates the diverse cultures and experiences of Latinx students. Through storytelling, cultural exchange, and community projects, we create a vibrant, inclusive space that honors heritage, fosters pride, and builds bridges of connection across the Thayer community.

OMEGA is an alliance group that engages the Thayer community in meaningful conversations and activities around equity, diversity, and inclusion. Open to all, OMEGA promotes education, growth, and collective action toward a more just and inclusive school culture.

The Women’s Empowerment Club brings together students interested in promoting gender equity on campus and beyond. Through discussion, collaboration, and community initiatives, we aim to uplift and celebrate women and girls, while encouraging all students to be active allies and changemakers.

QUEST is Thayer’s LGBTQ+ alliance group committed to fostering acceptance, awareness, and inclusion around diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. Open to all, QUEST provides a space for connection, support, and education that reflects Thayer’s values of respect and belonging for every individual.

The students in Art Activities utilize creative expression and different art mediums to promote and support DEIB efforts at Thayer.

The Asian Students affinity space cultivates a safe space and community where students who identify as Asian or AAPI can discuss their own experiences, challenges, and issues that they confront as Asian students.

The Black girl affinity space provides a supportive, affirming space for black female students to be in community and share about their experiences. 

The Black male affinity space provides a supportive, affirming space for black male students to be in community and share about their experiences.

The Christian student affinity space is where students who identify as Christian can connect and share their experiences. Students might discuss what it means to be Christian, and learn about the history of the religion as it relates to daily life at school and our communities.

The Jewish student affinity space is a safe space where people who identify as Jewish can connect and share their experiences. Students will discuss what it means to be Jewish to different people, learn about the history behind the religion, and the stereotypes that could be affecting people daily at school and in their lives.

The LGBTQ+ student affinity group is a safe and affirming space for students that identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community to express themselves and share their experiences.

The Mental Health Awareness Club (MHAC) cultivates a safe space and community where students can discuss their own experiences, challenges, and issues with mental health as well as promote joy and self-care at school.  The MHAC also works to promote advocacy and awareness to reduce the stigma around mental health. 

The multilingual affinity space is for students who grew up speaking two or more languages at home. This group is for students whose primary home language might not be English or whose family switches between languages frequently. Students will discuss their own experiences and challenges in a supportive space.

The multiracial affinity space is for mixed race students or students who hold more than one racial identity. In this group students discuss the emotional and cultural experiences that accompany having multiple ethnicities, different traditions and social/familial expectations.

The Middle School's gay/straight alliance works to improve awareness and acceptance of differences in students' sexual orientation and gender identity.

The Middle School's White Anti-racist group meets in a space where white students come together to share and learn about their racial identity with the intention to grow as community members who promote inclusion and repugn racism.

The Middle School women’s empowerment group works to improve awareness of women’s rights and inspire the TA community to discuss issues, both local and global, in terms of the role of women in society.
