The online companion to the PBS presentation about Martin Luther King and his fight for civil rights.

American Women's History: A Research Guide
Created and maintained by Middle Tennessee State University, this site is a research guide for American Women's History. It contains a network of links by subject, state, and format (e.g. primary sources).

An excellent gateway to sites covering various aspects of U.S. History.

Congressional Quarterly Researcher 1923-Present
"Each single-themed, 12,000-word report is researched and written by a seasoned journalist. The consistent, reader-friendly organization provides researchers with an introductory overview; background and chronology on the topic; an assessment of the current situation; tables and maps; pro/con statements from representatives of opposing positions; and bibliographies of key sources."

Digital History
A gateway to a vast collection of resources, some primary resources, related to United States history. Maintained by the University of Houston.

The Great War Society (WW I)
Maintained by the Society, the research center is a gateway to information about battles, fallen soldiers, the war in various countries, and links to other resources.

The History Place: African Americans in WW II
The History Place: World War II in Europe
The first link is to brief biographies of Africa American soldiers. The second is to an annotated timeline with links to further information and some photos.

Immigration: The Changing Face of America
"Provides an introduction to the study of immigration to the United States...by link[ing] educators to primary sources from the Library of Congress' online collections."

The Leopold and Loeb Trial
From Famous American Trials, this site presents in depth information about the evidence, Clarence Darrow (the defense attorney), and the decision.

Lusitania
Chronicles the sinking of the Lusitania on May 7, 1915. Has information about the ship, her master, and the tragedy.

Mass Moments
"An electronic almanac of of Massachusetts history," this site contains information on 365 notable events. Visitors can access the "moments" via a timeline, search words, or by subject.

Remembering Pearl Harbor
A National Geographic site, with links to a timeline of the attack, maps and selected memoirs.

The Scottsboro Boys' Trial
Samuel Liebowitz was the defense lawyer for the Scottsboro Boys, and was also a graduate of Cornell. This site has detailed information on the trial, from Famous American Trials, information about Liebowitz, and links to further information at Cornell and elsewhere.

Part of the Library of Congress American Memory project, this is a lesson plan covering the suffragist movement.

World War II
Part of the Modern American Poetry site, these pages contain a summary of the war, a discussion of the German invasion of the Soviet Union, a photo essay covering the war and another concerning the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
