CIA World Factbook Provides general information (geography, history, government, etc.) about countries around the world. Updated on a regular basis and supported by the CIA. Congressional Quarterly Researcher 1923-Present "Each single-themed, 12,000-word report is researched and written by a seasoned journalist. The consistent, reader-friendly organization provides researchers with an introductory overview; background and chronology on the topic; an assessment of the current situation; tables and maps; pro/con statements from representatives of opposing positions; and bibliographies of key sources." Internet Modern History Sourcebook The Internet History Sourcebooks Project is a collection of public domain and copy-permitted historical texts presented cleanly (without advertising or excessive layout) for educational use. Includes primary sources. Library of Congress Home page for the Library of Congress. "The Library's mission is to make its resources available and useful to the Congress and the American people and to sustain and preserve a universal collection of knowledge and creativity for future generations." This rich site contains millions of digital images from the various collections, a searchable catalog, and resources for researchers. Philosophy since the Enlightenment "This site was begun in 1988 based on lectures and seminars and designed to be accessible to the non-specialist. The site is constantly updated." WWW Virtual Library - World History Index "The WWW Virtual Library (VL), the oldest catalogue of the Web, is run by volunteers who compile pages of key links for particular areas in which they are expert."
