College Counseling Director's Welcome
Welcome to Thayer Academy’s College Counseling page. With three full-time college counselors, the college counseling office serves as a vital resource for students and families as they go through the college selection and application process.
Beginning in a student's freshman and sophomore years, college counselors provide general advice and guidance regarding their academic, athletic, and extracurricular program selections. Then, beginning in January of the junior year, each student is assigned a college counselor with whom they meet on a regular basis. Each student works closely with the counselor to assess academic, arts, and athletic strengths and interests and to begin to develop a list of potential colleges and universities.
Thayer’s goal is for each graduate is to gain admission to a school which best matches his or her academic skills and extracurricular interests. In fact, our students often seek college environments that reflect what they value in Thayer: close relationships with faculty; supportive, yet challenging academics; and active, friendly communities. 100% of our graduates matriculate at 4- year colleges and universities, and 85% attend one of Princeton Reviews top 373 colleges.Thayer is well regarded in college admission offices across the country.
