International Students Applying to Thayer
Thayer Academy is a co-ed college preparatory day school for grades 6-12. Most of our students live within a 30-40 minute commute to our Braintree, Massachusetts campus. Thayer admits students for fall matriculation only; there is no mid-year or spring entrance. Thayer is a day school and has no boarding facilities. Our preference is for international students to live with their parent(s) in the local commuting area. If that is not possible, after acceptance, Thayer can discuss homestay arrangements.
English Language & Testing Requirement
Strong English fluency in speaking, reading, and writing is a prerequisite for all International students, as Thayer does not offer English as a Second Language (ESL) courses. All International students must take the SSAT and TOEFL exams. Thayer's curriculum is challenging and fast-paced, and our subject areas require complex use of the English language. Therefore, we seek students who have strong scores on the SSAT and TOEFL exams, indicating a high degree of proficiency in English. International students are not eligible for financial aid.
Immigration & Visa Information
In order to obtain an F-1 Visa, Thayer Academy will only provide an I-20 Form for those students have been admitted and enrolled at the school. International families must also provide financial information before an I-20 can be administered.
