Dear Parents:

A quick look back at the past two months shows that the TA community is as strong as we are busy, and the next two months are no different!  In the spirit of the season, we'd like to give thanks to some of our Thayer Academy Parent Association heroes:  please accept our gratitude for an outstanding job!

Sinéad Butler P '17, '19 and Andrea Garvey P '19, Homecoming Co-Chairs

Sinéad and Andrea made all of the key decisions related to Homecoming early on, and then ably guided their committee.  Together they created a fantastic event that offered something to all parts of the Thayer community:  students, parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends!

Nancy Doyle P '16, Thayer Academy Parent Association

Nancy recruited and assigned 100+ individual parent volunteers to staff all facets of Homecoming, from decorating to baking/grilling, games, and the merchandise table.

The chairs of each of these Homecoming subcommittees for running a tight, but fun ship!

Karen Moran P '19 (Decorating), Michelle Flaherty P '19 (Bake Sale), Susan Wadlington & David Butler  P ' 15, '16, '19 (Food), Barb Vonnegut P '21 (Games) and Lilli Meiselman P '15, '19, Dawn Griffin P '17, and Tricia St. Jean P '17 (Merchandise).

Thayer Academy Plant and Facilities Crew

Under the direction of Paul Pantano, the grounds crew of Rich, Nick, Carl, Tom, Frank, and Dan worked tirelessly for days and weeks prior to Homecoming. They forged ahead even when the Homecoming tent blew down three days before Homecoming and they had to start from scratch!

Chef Jason and the kitchen staff

Thousands of hours of planning, food preparation, and display go into Homecoming and every day of our school year. Keeping our children well fueled to learn and succeed is very important to us all.

TA Athletic Department

This team juggled schedules and made phone calls to other Athletic Departments to bring as many teams as possible to the main campus for competition during Homecoming. The sidelines were filled and it made a difference to our athletes.

TA Alumni

The second annual Harold B. Hatch Community Run 5K brought out 42 runners to celebrate the life of this teacher, coach and TA Sports Hall of Fame inductee of 2008. The top 5 finishers included two parents, one alumnus, one esteemed faculty member, and our Director of Admissions.  It was a display of "community" in the truest sense.

All this hard work is just a glimpse of the many efforts being made on behalf of our students, parents, and school everyday. To celebrate these heroes, and the strength of our community, please join fellow parents for the Home for the Holidays Parent-Alumni Party on Friday, 12/12 from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. in the Tiger's Den. Tickets will be on sale soon.

For a master list of events and offerings please refer to www.thayer.org, and feel free to contact us at TAPA@thayer.org.  See you on campus soon!
