Thayer's tuition is $38,600 for the 2013-2014 school year, and includes all educational expenses, a complete hot lunch, and participation in extra-curricular activities such as athletics, arts, and student clubs/organizations. It does not include transportation to and from school, books (about $400 a year), or educational travel programs.

Thayer's Financial Aid Program

Thayer Academy's financial aid program awards over $6 million each year to 35% of our student body. All financial aid awards are need-based; there are no scholarships or merit awards for academic, artistic, or athletic ability.

Families can apply for financial aid by completing the application at sss.nais.org. If you intend to apply for financial aid, please begin at the same time you apply for admission.

Financial aid applicants should also complete the 4506-T form, and mail it to SSS by NAIS, Application Processing Center, P.O. Box 449, Randolph, MA 02368-0449.

Self-employed financial aid applicants should also complete the Business or Farm Statement, and mail it to SSS by NAIS, Application Processing Center, P.O. Box 449, Randolph, MA 02368-0449.

The financial aid deadline is Friday, January 10, 2014. Prospective students and their families will be notified of both admissions and financial aid decisions on March 10th.

Applying for Financial Aid

School and Student Services (SSS) processes financial aid applications. SSS is a service of the National Association of Independent Schools. Based on the financial information you provide, SSS gives us an estimated amount your family can contribute to educational expenses. This helps us make fair and objective financial aid decisions. To begin your financial aid application, follow the steps outlined below.

Online  

  1. Go to sss.nais.org.
  2. Click on the prompt to begin your Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS). You only have to complete one PFS even if you have several children applying to our school or if you are applying to more than one independent school.
  3. You will be given a password that will allow you to return to your PFS at a later date before submitting it.
  4. You will be given instructions about submitting required backup documents by mail. Your documents will be handled with the utmost level of security. To read more about SSS’s document security, go to sss.nais.org.
  5. Mail the required documents to: SSS by NAIS, Application Processing Center, P.O. Box 449, Randolph, MA 02368-0449. (For overnight mail, use this address: SSS by NAIS, Application Processing Center, 437 Turnpike Street, Canton, MA 02021.)
