Our Staff

Thad Robey is Director of College Counseling and a history and English teacher. Prior to his arrival at Thayer in 2002, he had worked in admissions at Colorado College and Washington University. He also worked for two years at College Coach, an independent college counseling consulting company. Thad is active in the profession of admission and college counseling, currently serving in an elected position as Finance Chair for ACCIS (Association of College Counselors at Independent Schools). Thad has an M.A. in English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis and a B.A. in English from Colorado College. After a childhood spent in Ithaca, NY, he and his family fled the cold, gray winters and relocated to Hawaii, where he attended Punahou School in Honolulu for his high school years. He is married and has three boys. He enjoys watching movies with his kids, playing with Jazz the family dog, and pretending (and failing miserably) to be Roger Federer in several South Shore tennis leagues.

Cicily Shaw is the Co-Director of College Counseling and has worked at the post-secondary and secondary school levels for over 25 years. Prior to joining Thayer in 2022, she was the Founding Director of College Counseling at Boston Trinity Academy. Cicily’s work in the college admission offices at Boston College, Bryant University, and Lesley University has fueled her love for college access and her passion for giving back professionally. Cicily is an active member and leader in NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling) and is the current President-Elect of NEACAC (New England Association for College Admission Counseling). She has served as Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for College Visions, a non-profit organization serving first-generation college students in Providence, RI, and is a member of the Executive Council of the Massachusetts Association of School Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA) as Co-Chair of the Access, Inclusion and Diversity Committee and has served on several college advisory boards. Cicily has a M.Div. from Boston University, MS in Counseling from Northeastern University, a BA in HealthCare Administration from Stonehill College, and is a doctoral candidate at Northeastern University. Cicily is a Massachusetts native who grew up on the South Shore. Cicily and her husband Lamont are active members in their church community as ordained clergy and currently live in Randolph.

Christine grew up on Cape Cod, but left the sheltered life of the dunes to attend college in the big city.  She attended Boston University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Music. Upon graduating, she remained at BU for five years, working in the admissions office while earning a master’s degree in Higher Education. From there she served as the college counselor at The Steppingstone Foundation and went on to become Director of College Counseling at Chapel Hill - Chauncy Hall School in Waltham.  In 2005 she relocated to the South Shore to join the team at Thayer. Aside from her college counseling duties, she also teaches Algebra I and serves as an academic advisor.  Outside of Thayer, she has a husband and three girls that keep her pretty busy, but she makes sure to find time to run and pursue her musical interests.

Selene Carlo-Eymer serves as Thayer's Upper School Registrar and College Counseling Coordinator. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, she successfully co-founded and ultimately sold Eymer Design, Inc., an award-winning, Boston-based design/marketing communications firm. Selene has sincere gratitude for the Academy as both of her sons are alumni. The older son attended the Upper School, and the younger son attended the Middle School. “After seeing what Thayer did for our eldest, we knew both our boys would thrive in the Academy’s rich learning environment," she says. "It is, in fact, my gratitude which led me to pursue becoming a member of the community.”
