2017-18 Season Preview:

The Thayer Varsity Swimming and Diving Team is led by Head Coach Brooks Donnelly, Swim Coach Sammie Taylor, Assistant Swim Coach Katelynne Ahearn, and the three Captains, Meg DiMaio, Cam Bridge, and Chris Underhill. This year the team will continue to include Saturday meets and practices, giving us more opportunity to train, practice and to have more flexibility for meets. As a result, we have been able to add a couple of new meets this year that will provide more competition and opportunity for our swimmers and divers.

The Recreational Swimming Program at the Weymouth Club that was begun last year will continue to provide a good workout with some skill instruction for all those who wish to meet the Thayer sports requirement in a non-competitive way and for those swimmers who would like to join the varsity team in the future.

While the Varsity Swimming and Diving Team will have a busy and challenging schedule again this year, we will continue to emphasize good sportsmanship, supportive and fun team camaraderie, and personal hard work and improvement. In addition to the Coaches, the Captains are looking forward to creating an environment in which every member of the team will grow and improve as individuals, athletes, and as teammates.

The team will look to continue our years of successful seasons as our team, once again, will be very competitive with the comparably-sized programs on our schedule. Several of our individual swimmers and divers have earned wins and top finishes at New Englands (our league championship), and even ALL-AMERICAN and All-NEPSAC honors in the past and have gone on to success at a variety of D1, D2, and D3, schools after Thayer. Most recently, we have swimmers and divers who have continued their excellence at the University of Tennessee, UNH, Colorado College, and Clemson, to name a few.

We are all looking forward to a fun and exciting new season in which every individual swimmer and diver, as well as the team, has great success. We look forward to seeing lots of parents and students this season at Blue Hills Regional Technical High School to cheer us on at our home meets and thank in advance all those who travel to support us!!
